FAQs

What’s the process?

We will begin with an informal chat about what you’re looking for in your new website. I can do this via email, on the phone or in person if you are local to Wiltshire or Bath. I’d like to find out about your business, goals as well as your customers. I have a questionnaire for you to fill out to make sure we cover all the details and later I’ll request any media content etc.

Following payment of your deposit and after the hosting and domain name has been set up, I will begin to design your website.  You will be given a link to view the site throughout the process and will be able to suggest changes you might like.

Will I have to pay for it all up-front?

No. I ask that you pay an initial payment of 40% of the total with the rest of the balance payable once you’re happy to go live with your new site.

Will you be hosting my website?

No. I believe it’s in your best interest for the website to be built within your own hosting account, this way you will have full control over your website.

Although you’re free to choose your own hosting company, it does have to be WordPress compatible. I can make a recommendation for the hosting company that I prefer to use and send over some step by step instructions for you to follow. Of course I’m happy to help set your account up if you are unsure. Hosting will be paid for by you before I begin the design process.

You will also have to choose and register a domain name if you currently don’t have one, this can be created and from within your hosting account. I can help and advise on this as well.

I will require access to your hosting provider to set everything up for you. On completion of your site, obviously, you’ll be free to change the log-in details and password.

Will I own my own website?

Yes you will own your own website.

Unlike some website design agencies, there are no on-going contracts or monthly payment plans.

What will you need from me?

I will require any images or media files you want to display on your website and anything you currently use in your promotional material including logos and photographs you may have of your business and products. If the quality of the images provided isn’t up to scratch, I will request alternatives. The quality of images can make or break a website.

I can use stock images if necessary but I generally don’t advise it – stock images work for some companies but do lack a personal touch and can also lead to a lack of authenticity and trust for potential customers.

If you don’t have a logo, I can create a simple one for you included within the cost, this can always be changed later.

You can write the written content for each page yourself or I can write the content for you, based on information you provide. This is of course editable and I will provide video tutorials, so you can edit your website yourself.

How long will it take to build my website?

Once I’ve received all media content and the hosting is set up, I aim to create your website within a month.

Time frames can also depend on my workload at the time, I’m not a large agency outsourcing work and I can only take on so many projects at one time.

Will I be able to make changes to the website myself?

Yes! I build websites using WordPress so my clients can edit simple things themselves. I can provide video tutorials on how to do this after your website is finished.

I will be available to make any changes for you on an ad-hoc basis if you’d prefer. My prices are on my services page.

What about on-going support?

I’m not looking to tie you in to a ‘support-package’, it’s something many companies offer but it’s something you may not necessarily need.

I’m contactable if you have any problems with your site.

I already have a website, can you upgrade it?

The short answer is no. I prefer to create websites from scratch.

If you have any other questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
